The Feast
Why 50 hours?

Las Vegas WorshipWhy is “The Sound” 50 hours long? Wouldn’t it make more sense to make it 48 hours, so that it’s 2 full days? As I was praying and seeking God about his view of Las Vegas worship and what Las Vegas revival means , God showed me some pretty interesting things about the number 50. As I dug deeper, the revelations only got more intense. Here’s what I mean:

The feast of Shavuot or Pentecost is a yearly pilgrimage festival in which the Hebrews
celebrated the giving of Torah at Mt. Sinai over 3,000 years ago. After Passover, they
were to count 7 weeks in expectation of the giving of the Law, or the revelation of
God. God came down upon Mt. Sinai that day and met with men. It was a time of
consecration and dedication to God as His Holy people. It was an appointed time for
an encounter with the living God.

Fast forward 1,300 years and you see another great picture of God’s timing. Christ
Jesus is now our Passover lamb, and after 40 days of Him being on the earth
testifying, the disciples were told to wait in Jerusalem until they receive power
from heaven. Ten days they’re in the upper room, and when the day of Pentecost
had “fully come”, suddenly there was a sound- God came down again to meet with

This time the way of God would not be written upon tablets of stone, but upon the
hearts and minds of men - just as Jeremiah had prophesied.

So no we can see that Pentecost has a special place in the heart of God. The heavens
are now open and, on Pentecost weekend (which happens to be Memorial Day
weekend in our calendar), we are going to again meet with the Living God.

We will worship 50 hours for the 50 days of expectation and declare to God that He
alone is worthy of the worship and honor of our city.

Secondly, 50 is the number for Jubilee! It was a time of releasing from debts,
bondage, and a time for moving into freedom!

Interestingly enough, the word “Freemont” is a German name that
means “FREEDOM MOUNTAIN”. As we praise and worship on Fremont Street, we will
be declaring freedom to our Las Vegas valley.

Thirdly, 50 is also the number for government. God declared many times that
Judah was His Lawgiver. We are believing that, as Judah goes first, we will see our
community move forward into the promise of God over our city like never before.

50 hours to meet with God
50 hours to free the captives
50 hours to walk in our promise
